About AVDP
AVDP team is a group of artists who are active in many different dance & new media fields. Our main subject of interest is to promote the art of videodance in Greece and abroad. Through AVDP, we aim to develop an interdisciplinary approach towards creations which shift from dance and performance to new media and visual arts. We also focus on creating space and giving opportunities to artists to develop multidisciplinary dance performances and we welcome any vision that applies interactive technologies & video-design in moving ideas. As AVDP team we consider dance & video as expressive artistic tools that could also be powerful means of exploring and developing social and cultural identity.
By organizing video-dance services and activities (screenings, lectures, workshops, projects) in different neighborhoods, squares & coffee houses, AVDP gives the opportunity to the community to meet the art of videodance, to participate in and create work that reflects their community, to develop a new language for communication and to encourage greater self esteem and confidence. They get inspired to become social innovators by using their talents towards making an artistic change in their communities. Community stays physically active and have the support of AVDP team along the way.

BODIES OF RESILIENCE (Director: Jill Woodward, Choreography: Despina Stamos)
Screening during 4th AVDP festival with free entrance to all the refugees.
In the short documentary, a diverse group of asylum seekers in Greece join with local and New York artists for a performance project. The participants improvise duets and group dances amidst ruins and graffiti in Athens, while we hear them recount painful stories of their pre-flight suffering, harrowing journeys, and reflections on Greek life during the global financial crisis and rising fascism. Physically, they explore the question of how a body can find softness and resiliency when their surrounding environment is harsh. The refugees come from Afghanistan, Albania, Bangladesh, Senegal, Tanzania, and Turkey, and include a Kurdish political prisoner, a sex trafficking victim, and victims of the Taliban. They work with collaborators from Athens and the USA in an annual performance workshop called passTRESpass. This film is a follow-up to the 2011 short documentary passTRESpass, which details the process of recruiting immigrant participants and staging a public performance. bodies of resilience is a filmed performance outside the traditional theatrical setting, but contains intimate elements of real life revealed through audio interviews. The participants provide a soundtrack of folk songs sung in their native languages, and speak in Greek.

Educational program AVDPSince videodance is a quite new complex art form, AVDP.edu is an attempt not only to introduce this idea to the students and professional artists, but also to create artistic fermentations among them - in the juxtaposed community of dance, filmmaking, music, direction and set-design. By bringing all those different art forms together (which allconstitutes main elements of videodance), AVDP.edu aims to start a dialogue among them and investigates how the use of videodance as an alternative expressive tool could challenge the students by expanding their creative visions.
Videodance & Dance educational workshops, lectures and screenings are organised for students and professional artists in Greece and abroad, while the development of collaborative projects between students/artist of different art fields is the AVDP.edu’s main objective.
Since 2013, AVDP.edu collaborates with Athens Fine Art School, Greek State Dance School, Rallou Manou Professional Dance School, Duncan Dance & Research Center, SOZO visions in motion and others.

Εκπαιδευτικό Πρόγραμμα AVDP Καθώς το videodance είναι μία σύνθετη καλλιτεχνική φόρμα, το πρόγραμμα AVDP. edu επιδιώκει όχι μόνο να συστήσει αυτή την ιδέα σε φοιτητές και σε επαγγελματίες καλλιτέχνες, αλλά και να δημιουργήσει καλλιτεχνικές ζυμώσεις μεταξύ τους -μέσα στην ανάμεικτη κοινότητα του χορού, του κινηματογράφου, της μουσικής, της σκηνοθεσίας και της σκηνογραφίας. Φέρνοντας όλες αυτές τις διαφορετικές τέχνες μαζί (που όλες αποτελούν βασικά στοιχεία του videodance) τo AVDP.edu σκοπεύει στην εκκίνηση ενός διαλόγου μεταξύ τους και ερευνά πως η χρήση του videodance ως εναλλακτικό εργαλείο έκφρασης μπορεί να προκαλέσει τους φοιτητές, διευρύνοντας την δημιουργική τους σκέψη.
Εργαστήρια videodance &χορού, διαλέξεις, προβολές οργανώνονται για φοιτητές και επαγγελματίες καλλιτέχνες στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό, ενώ η ανάπτυξη συνεργατικών project ανάμεσα σε φοιτητές/επαγγελματίες διαφορετικών τεχνών είναι ένας από τους βασικότερους στόχους του AVDP.edu.
Από το 2013, το AVDP.edu. συνεργάζεται με την Ανώτατη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών, την Κρατική Σχολή Χορού, την επαγγελματική σχολή χορού Ραλλού Μάνου, το κέντρο μελέτης και χορού Ντάνκαν, το SOZO visions in motion κ.ά

AVDP on TouR is an attempt to bring to the fore the art of videodance in Greece and abroad by introducing this complex art form to the local and international audience. Each year, after the festival is done AVDP on TouR program starts!
AVDP on TouR collaborates with local dance festivals and organisations such as One Small Step - Urban Dance Festival (Corfu), Clusters - ARTiria (Lefkada), Dance Days (Chania), Small Festival of Dance (Hydra), Dance Days (Naxos), Akropoditi (Syros) and others, by offering screenings of a special edition of videodance works, lectures and workshops.
AVDP on TouR is also interested not only to promote the contemporary videodance creations of professional artists, but also to strengthen the network betweenartists from various fields, who can found meeting points in videodance form. For the above reasons, since 2013, AVDP started collaborating internationally with other videodance & film festivals such as Loikka (Helsinki), Cinedans (Amsterdam), L’Aternativa (Barcelona) and others.

Το AVDP on TouR συνεργάζεται με τοπικά φεστιβάλ χορού και οργανισμούς όπως το Ένα Μικρό Βήμα - Φεστιβάλ Χορού σε αστικό τοπίο (Κέρκυρα), το Clusters - ARTηρία (Λευκάδα), τις Μέρες Χορού (Χανιά), το Μικρό Φεστιβάλ Χορού (Ύδρα), το Κέντρο Χορού Ακροποδιτί (Σύρος), τις Μέρες Χορού (Νάξος) και άλλα, προσφέροντας προβολές σύντομων έργων videodance, διαλέξεις και εργαστήρια videodance.
Επίσης, το AVDP on TouR ενδιαφέρεται όχι μόνο για την προώθηση των σύγχρονων δημιουργιών videodance από επαγγελματίες καλλιτέχνες, αλλά και για την ενίσχυση ενός δικτύου καλλιτεχνών από διαφορετικά πεδία, πουβρίσκουν σημεία συναντήσεων στην τέχνη του videodance. Για τους παραπάνω λόγους, από το 2013 το AVDP ξεκίνησε διεθνής συνεργασίες με άλλα φεστιβάλ videodance και κινηματογράφου όπως το Loikka (Ελσίνκι), Cinedans (Άμστερνταμ), L’Aternativa (Βαρκελώνη) και άλλα.

ATHENS VIDEO DANCE PROJECT is an annual videodance festival that takes place in Athens, Greece. Organized since 2010, it attracts short videodance works of any genre, feature-length dance films and documentaries, dance photo projections, dance performances and installations, while it also provides a place for any hybrid, interactive, technological project whose main objective is to develop an artistic dialogue between dance and different art forms.AVDP is an attempt to bring to the fore the art of videodance in Greece in order not only to educate the local audience, but also to create artistic fermentations among students and professionals in the community of dancers, filmmakers, musicians, directors and set designers. Its goal is to strengthen the network between artists from various fields, who are interested in the art form of videodance and the development of collaborative projects between them, in order also to promote the contemporary videodance creations of professional artists.
For the above reasons, there are two programs which illustrate this idea: AVDP.edu and AVDP on TouR. Regarding to AVDP.edu, dance/videodance educational workshops and lectures are organised for students and professional artists in Greece and abroad. While, every year, after the festival is finished AVDP on TouR starts by touring a special edition of videodance works in local and international dance & video dance festivals. Since 2013, AVDP also started collaborating internationally with other videodance festivals such as Loikka (Helsinki) and Cinedans (Amsterdam).
In the context of development the local and interstate relations, AVDP has developed partnerships with the Theater of Athens Fine Art School, the Ministry of Culture (auspices), Greek State School of Dance, GOETHE Institute-Athen, Institute Francais Athenes, Spanish Institute, ARTHAUSE-MUSIC productions (Germany), KeyFilm productions (Netherlands), CineDoc, Danaos Cinema, ERT (TV channel),
i Square, Dance Festival of the Greek Choreographers, one small step-urban dance festival of Corfu, Hydra Dance Festival, Akropoditi Dance Center/Syros, Dance Days/Chania & Naxos.
Το ATHENS VIDEO DANCE PROJECT είναι το ετήσιο φεστιβάλ videodance, το οποίο λαμβάνει χώρα στην Αθήνα, σε συνεργασία με το Θέατρο της Ανώτατης Σχολής Καλών Τεχνών. Από το 2010, προσελκύει σύντομα έργα videodance διαφόρων ειδών, ταινίες χορού, ντοκιμαντέρ, προβολές φωτογραφιών χορού, παραστάσεις χορού, perfor- mances και εγκαταστάσεις, ενώ ταυτόχρονα προσφέρει χώρο σε κάθε υβριδικό, διαδραστικό, τεχνολογικό project με βασικό πεδίο πειραματισμού την ανάπτυξη του καλλιτεχνικού διαλόγου ανάμεσα στον χορό και τις άλλες μορφές τεχνών.
Το AVDP επιχειρεί την προώθηση της τέχνης του videodance στην Ελλάδα, όχι μόνο εκπαιδεύοντας το τοπικό κοινό, αλλά και δημιουργώντας καλλιτεχνικές ζυμώσεις μεταξύ σπουδαστών και επαγγελματιών της χορευτικής, κινηματογραφικής, μουσικής και εικαστικής κοινότητας. Σκοπός του είναι να ενισχύσει το πλέγμα επικοινωνίας μεταξύ των καλλιτεχνών από διαφορετικά πεδία, που ενδιαφέρονται για την τέχνη του videodance και την ανάπτυξη συνεργατικών project, με στόχο την προώθηση των επαγγελματικών σύγχρονων έργων videodance.
Για τους παραπάνω λόγους, υπάρχουν τρία προγράμματα που αντανακλούν την ιδέα του AVDP: το ίδιο το φεστιβάλ, το AVDP.edu και το AVDP on TouR. Όσον αφορά το AVDP.edu, εργαστήρια χορού/videodance οργανώνονται για σπουδαστές και επαγγελματίες στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό. Ενώ, κάθε χρόνο, μετά το πέρας του φεστιβάλ ξεκινάει το AVDP on TouR, παρουσιάζοντας μία ειδική έκδοση έργων video- dance σε τοπικά και διεθνή φεστιβάλ χορού και videodance, όπως το Loikka (Ελσίνκι) και το Cinedans (Άμστερνταμ)
